We encourage civic-minded volunteers to "adopt" a MIshawaka park. Sponsors regularly visit "their" park to help with minor maintenance and generally help to oversee its condition. They report problems to the Park Department for attention. Some sponsors purchase flowers, personally plant them in their adopted park and then make certain that the plants are watered, weeded and fertilized. Landscape Supervisor Rick Springer worked closely with seven volunteer "Adopt-A-Park" groups throughout the city last year.
