The City Controller's office acts as the finance department of the City. Major duties include responsibility for all revenue and expenditures and all of the resulting accounting and reporting required. The department has eight employees: Controller, Deputy Controller, Accountant, 2 Bookkeepers, Payroll Clerk, Purchasing Agent, and an Ambulance Billing/ Insurance coordinator.

The City of Mishawaka is audited annually by the State Board of Accounts.

In 2007, Mishawaka was the recipient of the Achievement Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the twenty-first consecutive year (for the 2006 report).
