The Records Division of the Mishawaka Police Department retains all police reports, an issues various permits. This Division is sometimes referred to as the Services Division. |

| Gun Permits |
- You must live within Mishawaka city limits and be 18 years of age.
- Completed applications may be returned to Records Division for local processing 9am-5pm.
- Approved applications may be picked up at the Records Division ONE WEEK after being submitted.
- Then mail the approved form and a certified check to Indianapolis for state approval.
- Fees vary per type and term. Contact the Division to determine the amount.

| Motor Checks |
- $5.00 fee paid at Records Division
- Forms then presented to an officer for vehicle inspection and certification
- Salvage titles are not done here. Contact the Indiana State Police.

| Protective Orders |
- Must be 18 years or older, or an emancipated minor.
- Applications for a Protective Order are available at the office of the Small Claims Court in either Mishawaka or South Bend.

- You must fill out the forms yourself and return them to the Small Claims clerk. Your application will be reviewed by a Judge within 24-48 hours and a determination will be made on whether a TEMPORARY Protective Order is warranted. If issued, a hearing date will be given for a PERMANENT Protective Order. Generally, a PERMANENT Protective Order is in effect for ONE YEAR from date issued. It may be renewed if deemed necessary.
- Fee: $30.00 cash or money order
- Keep the Protective Order with you at all times!

A records check must be requested in person at the Records Division. Bring a photo ID with you. Sorry, records checks cannot be provided online or by fax.
Records Division hours are 8am to 5pm.
