Lt. Tim Williams, DARE Supervisor, joined the Police Department in 1988. He was named Police Officer of the Year in 2002 and was assigned  to the D.A.R.E. Program.

D.A.R.E. KIDS

The Mishawaka D.A.R.E program was implemented in 1986. Since that time, thousands of 5th and 6th grade students have successfully graduated from our program. The D.A.R.E program teaches our youths to resist peer pressures and to understand the consequences of using drugs.

The main goal of our program is to educate our children on the dangers involved in using drugs such as alcohol, marijuana, and tobacco products. The D.A.R.E program's message also includes lessons about peer pressure, decision making, friendship foundations, and consequences. Having uniformed police officers in our schools helps to build a positive relationship between our police department and our children.

Our presence in and around the schools also helps to reassure the safety in our school community. Currently, our D.A.R.E program is taught in twelve schools in Mishawaka: seven public schools and five parochial schools:
