The Neighborhood Enforcement
Team (NET) has twelve police officers assigned to the unit. Eight
NET officers are assigned to seven designated areas of
the city - Northwest, Northeast, Northwest Central, Northeast
Central, South Central, Southwest and Southeast. N.E.T.
officers are responsible for their assigned areas.

Some of the N.E.T. officer's duties and responsibilities
include:
- following up on crime investigations;
- locating and identifying criminal activity and
wanted persons;
- assisting neighborhood watch groups with their
concerns and scheduled meetings;
- reading reports to identify crime patterns and
trends;
- making citizen contacts to determine crime problems
within their area, and;
- making innovative response or referral for resolution
of the problem.
The N.E.T. program also has a certified D.A.R.E. officer
and two School Resource Officers. One officer is assigned
to Mishawaka High School; the other is at John
Young Middle School. |

The Neighborhood Enforcement Team (NET) is a major department
within Mishawaka's Neighborhood Improvement Team. Neighborhood
Improvement Team members include the Common
Council, Mayor, Police, Fire, EMS, Building, Planning, Engineering, Community
Development, Code
Enforcement, Legal, Utilities, Parks, and the Street
Department. |
