REGULAR MEETING OF THE MISHAWAKA
BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY / UTILITY BOARD
November 14, 2017

 

The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety/Utility Board was called to order by President Ken Prince at 10:00 a.m. All members were present except Ms. Miller. Mr. Watson moved to dispense with the reading of the minutes of November 7, 2017, and accept them as circulated. Mr. Prince seconded; motion carried.

Quote Opening:
Quotes were received for Sodium Hypochlorite and Sodium Bisulfite for the Water and Wastewater Departments and are summarized below:

Mr. Prince said these quotes will be forwarded to the Water and Wastewater Departments for their review and evaluation.

Quotes were opened for the demolition and removal of 518 Alabama Street and are summarized below:

Mr. Prince said these quotes would be forwarded to the Redevelopment Department for their review and evaluation.

Mayor’s Comments:
Mayor Wood said he was honored to receive the Habitat for Humanity Community Partner of the Year award for the success in winning the Jimmy Carter Build.

Mayor Wood shared letters he had received from City residents praising the City for its cleanliness, outstanding services, and its commitment to safety for neighborhoods.

Mayor Wood announced a staff meeting would follow today’s Board meeting.

Department Head Reports:
Wastewater Division Manager Karl Kopec presented a Professional Services Agreement with Greeley and Hansen for professional services for Final Clarifier Trough Replacement for WWTP for the not-to-exceed amount of $18,020.00. Mr. Watson moved to approve as presented. Mr. Prince seconded; motion carried.

Street Commissioner Tim Ryan requested the Board award the bid for one (1) 2018 1-ton 4X4 standard cab pick-up with front plow and lift gate to Jordan Automotive Group, Mishawaka, the sole bidder, for the base bid of $39,923.00 less trade in of ($400.00) for a total award of $39,523.00. Mr. Prince moved to approve as presented. Mr. Watson seconded; motion carried.

City Engineer/Director Chris Jamrose presented Change Order #1 from Walsh & Kelly for Milburn Boulevard Area Improvements Divisions K (Queensboro) and M (Hendricks) for an increase of $227,693.13 for a new contract amount of $2,152,711.72. Mr. Watson moved to approve as presented. Mr. Prince seconded; motion carried.

Ms. Jamrose requested the Board approve PSA Supplemental Agreement #1 with DLZ for Grape and Douglas Road Intersection Study for an increase of $40,000.00 for a new not-to-exceed amount of $68,500.00. Mr. Prince moved to approve as presented. Mr. Watson seconded; motion carried.

Ms. Jamrose requested the Board approve Change Order #1 with Layne Inliner for CIPP Sewer Rehab, Various Locations 2017, for an increase of $103.072.00 for a new contract amount of $741,128.00. Mr. Watson moved to approve as presented. Mr. Prince seconded; motion carried.

Ms. Jamrose requested the Board accept the Certificate of Substantial Completion from HRP Construction for Linden Area LTCP, Division C. Mr. Prince moved to approve as presented. Mr. Watson seconded; motion carried.

City Planner Ken Prince presented a Professional Services Agreement with Abonmarche Consultants for survey services for Lots 25 and 26 in Parks Addition (Merrifield and 4th Street) for the not-to-exceed amount of $3,900.00, and moved for its approval. Mr. Watson seconded; motion carried.

Approval of Claims:
There were no claims to approve.

New Business:
There was no new business.

Unfinished Business:
There being no additional business brought before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 10:15 a.m.
