Must be 18 years or older, or an emancipated minor
Applications for a Protective Order are available at the office
of the Small Claims Court in either Mishawaka or South Bend.
You must fill out the forms yourself and return them to the
Small Claims clerk. Your application will be reviewed by a Judge
within 24-48 hours and a determination will be made on whether
a TEMPORARY Protective Order is warranted. If issued, a hearing
date will be given for a PERMANENT Protective Order. Generally,
a PERMANENT Protective Order is in effect for ONE YEAR from date
issued. It may be renewed if deemed necessary.
